Bio

Smiling elderly man with glasses outdoors.

Dr. Gordon Wallace earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a specialization in depth (Jungian) psychology. Throughout his career as a psychologist, he provided assessment and psychotherapy treatment primarily to midlife and older clients.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Wallace has maintained a mindfulness meditation practice for over 35 years and in 2007, he completed a practicum in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Over the years, he developed and facilitated workshops on Jungian psychology and mindfulness meditation for mental health professionals and the general public.

In 2006, Dr. Wallace was a speaker at a conference on psychotherapy and Buddhism in Kyoto, Japan, which led him to contribute a chapter to the book Self and No-Self: Continuing the Dialogue Between Buddhism and Psychotherapy (2009).

Since retiring from clinical practice in 2017, Dr. Wallace has continued volunteer service, developing and teaching mindfulness courses that address complex issues faced by hospice bereavement and palliative care patients.

In 2022, he published his first book titled Moonlight Serenade: Embracing Aging Mindfully, which gained national recognition, including a Silver award (Aging Consciously) at the 2023 Nautilus Book Awards and a Silver Medal (Relaxation/Mindfulness) at the 2022 Living Now Book Awards.

Through his long-time volunteer work at a local hospice, Dr. Wallace's second book, Into the Heart of Presence: Reflections on Cultivating a Mindful Sensibility in Everyday Life (2025), highlighted his evolved awareness of the critical importance of presence in the grief process.

His forthcoming book, Walking Grief Home: Six Companions for Living with Loss, is the culmination of a lifetime of mindful practice, decades of clinical work, and nine years of accompanying hospice patients and bereavement clients as they navigate the tender terrain of loss.

Drawing these strands together, the book offers a clearer, more compassionate understanding of the grief process—one that honours its complexity without trying to manage or resolve it. Its writing is intentionally spacious, inviting readers to pause, breathe, and explore their own experience with gentleness and curiosity.

Above all, Walking Grief Home is offered as a welcoming gift for the painful transition we all face sooner or later, a quiet companion that helps us meet grief not as an adversary, but as a profound expression of love still moving within us.

Dr. Wallace lives in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia with his wife, Lynn, and close to extended family.
